The brand was making a lot of common mistakes. They were running traffic campaigns instead of conversion campaigns, and not testing creative, audience or copy. When I took over I first set up tracking to run conversion campaigns, then implemented a strong testing and scaling protocol to improve results quicker and minimize losses on duds.
In 2020 I took on paid media, when I took over we were running traffic campaigns, we had not installed tracking on our menu site and couldn't run conversion campaigns. I first worked to set up proper tracking and pass that data to our facebook account. Next I built out a strategy and ran it past our CEO. In the next 3 months I took our roas from .5x to an average of 6x.
I have worked for Pei Wei since 2018 as a lead creative. Working on every creative touch point for the brand. Including email, website, billboards, campaigns, packaging, menus, in-store signage etc.. Being the sole creative for a mid sized company with 150 stores, I've always had to look for ways to increase efficiency and streamline our processes.

The client wanted to work with top portrait photographers for their new phone campaign. This was to position themselves as the top camera phone in the industry. They had very particular requirements on the chosen photographer so finding the right person was the first challenge. The second was managing the high profile talent and the client to achieve an outcome with the content that both parties were happy with. The timeline was extremely tight, particularly for such a high profile photographer with a busy schedule. Their target was to get high PR attention.
The budget included 3 other smaller but well known photographers who also created content around the same theme. We also had a gifting portion of the campaign where I sent the phones to small semi-professional photographers to create their own portraits. This was all to create buzz in the photography industry. This all had to be done beginning to end in about a month which is very tight.
This client had more than 20 facilities for treating addiction. They were spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on Google ads in order to drive phone calls, but they had no call tracking and hadn't done any conversion optimization. We created microsites in order to narrowly target their advertising both geographically, as well as by substance (eg alcohol, opiates, benzos, etc). We set up call tracking and started A/B testing. We had a multitude of wins, losses, and iterations to the websites based on our work. But I'm proud to have skyrocketed their revenue with 3 separate A/B tests that EACH increased the conversion rate on their primary goal of a phone call by more than 100% (99% statistically significant).
