It was 2017. Gig economy companies like Uber, Lyft, Instacart, and Airbnb were household names, but gig work was primarily unskilled. Knowledge industries didn’t take it seriously.

However, three serial entrepreneurs, Omer, Alon, and Elad, saw that the future of work was going to change. They believed that the top professionals would leave full-time jobs to find a new way of working.

Freelancing offered these highly-skilled professionals work-life balance, diverse professional challenges, and–of course–more money. It would give them the chance to become their own boss.

At the same time, freelancing would require these subject matter experts to develop new skills. They would have to promote themselves, deal with finances, and manage client relationships.  

Omer, Alon, and Elad knew that the gig economy would change the way that professionals work with businesses. They also knew that top professionals would need support in managing their freelance businesses.

With that vision for the future of work, they founded Mayple.

Expert Platform for Marketing

Mayple began by connecting businesses with marketing Experts. Marketing is a skillset that every business needs to grow.

Marketing is measurable, but it is very complicated. The world is increasingly specialized. New platforms spring up overnight.

SMBs can’t hire a full-time Expert for every marketing platform, but they need to be where their customers are. Mayple’s founders believed that businesses need to work with a few independent Experts who have a track record of accomplishments in their industry and the platforms their customers use.

We built a managed marketplace to connect businesses with top freelance and micro-agency Experts. The Mayple platform goes beyond introducing Experts and businesses; it handles quality control, management, vetting, payments, and everything else needed for a successful engagement.

Expert Platform for SaaS

Then, last year, Intuit reached out to us. They asked us to build a managed marketplace for Mailchimp.

Mailchimp was facing a problem that every SaaS platform has. On the one hand, their long-tail customers need support to implement their product correctly and use the product to its full potential. On the other, building a customer success team to support smaller clients isn’t profitable.

As technology companies shift from prioritizing growth to profitability, customer success teams are increasingly measured by ROI. More customers lose access to dedicated customer success managers. Without personalized support, they are more likely to churn.

LTV falls, and more customers lose access, increasing churn. A vicious cycle begins.

We worked with Mailchimp to test an innovative solution to customer churn. We matched Mailchimp customers with Experts in the customer’s industry and Mailchimp’s platform.  The Experts guided customers through a Health Check that audited the customers’ use of Mailchimp and provided specific recommendations to improve their performance. The Experts even

implemented improvements directly in customers’ accounts.

The results exceeded our expectations. Mailchimp experienced a 95% decrease in churn across the 2,500 customers who received a Health Check.

Now, we understand that our solution is bigger than connecting businesses with top marketing talent. Expert experiences are a game-changer for technology platforms and their customers–increasing satisfaction, decreasing churn, and creating new expansion opportunities.
